We ourselves have meanwhile put the whole case before the Secretary of State for the Colonies and, although the mills of officialdom grind slowly, we now trust to be able to advise you at an early date that the Hongkong Goverment has no objection to our appointing Mr. Schlueter our Agent. The Colonial Office informed us that they have telegraphed about the matter to the Hongkong Government.
We have prepared the necessary documents to enable kr. Schlueter to act as our Agent and as soon as we hear from he Colonial Office, we shall have a copy made of our present Agreement merely eliminating from it the eight words:

as written you in ours of the 8th ulto. under "A".
As an alternative, we shall also send you the wording under "B" ( see the same letter) and you may then shoose which wording you prefer. It is the same to us. It is annoying
that plans should have been changed, but obe could not foresee, leat of all Mr. Fuhrman, that his first proposal should turn out to be unworkable.
As to the shipment of a
New Cargo Shanghai cables that shinment should be made to "Hongkong option Whampoa".
Paraffin Wax: As soon as the above arrangement is completed, we must also work this business energetically because we have indications that a good business is possible, in spite of high freights; all commodities of this nature having risen
correspondingly.
Also the business proposed by Canton in
011 Products for the manufacture of Wax Candles ought to be taken in hand seriously.
Lease of Hongkong Godowns: As the lease of Godown 152 A expires only in the late spring of this year, your proposals made in your letter No. 613 of the 23rd October have so far been left in abeyance. This matter must also be seen to.
